Holt's House of Hope

The Holt Rowland Foundation, along with all of our partners, are thrilled to announce we have completed Holt’s House of Hope. Holt’s House of Hope is a shelter for boys on the streets in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic. At Holt’s House, these boys are provided with basic needs (food, clothing, toiletries), education (learn a trade or skill), activities (art, music, sports), and most importantly discipleship (Biblical guidance). The facility includes an open-air pavilion, a fully equipped kitchen to serve daily lunches, a store where the boys can earn points to spend toward items they need or want, and 3 classrooms for assistance with school work, technology, and vocational practices.

Clean Water

Through some local partnerships and connections, we have been presented with the opportunity to build a water treatment facility in Boca Chica, where we can sell clean water to the local community at a discounted price.  Currently, the only access to clean water for the local community is through purchasing 5 gallon jugs at local colmados for between $1.25 and $1.50 normally, but we can provide as good or better quality water for about 1/3 of the price.  This opportunity will be a game changer for our ministry and for engaging with the local community with the opportunity to share the gospel.  We have seen similar facilities prove to be transformational among local churches and communities.  To make this a reality, we need your help!

Learning center

Did you know there aren’t any bookstores in Boca Chica? The closest place to buy a book is 40 minutes away in Santo Domingo. We are currently developing an onsite library for the boys in our ministry, as well as local Dominican Missionaries, to use. Books include basic education topics such as handwriting, reading, and math, as well as areas covering leadership, and in-depth biblical studies.

One of our Holt’s House supporters, Kyle Hess, is currently hiking the Appalachian Trail. His goal of fundraising support is $1 per mile or a total of $2,189. If you donate $0.01 per mile, it’s only $21.89! You can make your donation to his cause by clicking the link. With the donations made through this fundraising effort, we hope to buy 2 new laptops, English language software, and several books.
