Did you know there’s not a library or location that sells books in Boca Chica? The closest place to find a book is in Santo Domingo, over 40 minutes away by bus. Also, many teachers give homework that requires a computer, but many of our boys do not have internet access at home. They must go to an internet cafe where they pay to use the internet. If they do not have the money to go to the cafe, they cannot do their assignments.
We are developing an on-site library and media center at Holt’s House for the use of the boys participating in our ministry as well as local missionaries and church leaders. Computers can be used to use language learning software and for homework assistance. Books can be read on-site or checked out.
We have a few ways you can help us!
If you’d like to make a monetary donation, you can click the link above. Holt’s House of Hope is part of a parent foundation, The Holt Rowland Foundation, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. You will be mailed a year-end summary of your giving for tax purposes.
One of our Holt’s House supporters, Kyle Hess, is currently hiking the Appalachian Trail. His goal of fundraising support is $1 per mile or a total of $2,189. If you donate $0.01 per mile, it’s only $21.89! You can make your donation to his cause by clicking the Appalachian Trail logo above. With the donations made through this fundraising effort, we hope to buy 2 new laptops, English language software, and several books.
